Nominal Roll

No official nominal roll for the 4th Battalion NF exists, however, I now hold data on over 10,000 fusiliers who served with the 1/4th, 2/4th, 3/4th and 4th Reserve Battalions between 1908 and 1919. The extent of the data held on each fusilier varies considerably. Unfortunately, for many it is limited to the fusiliers' surname and initials, while with others their name, rank, service number, date and place of birth, date and place of enlistment, date and place of death, discharge or capture, memorial location, home address, obituary, photograph and medals awarded are known. Many fusiliers enlisted in the 4th NF, but were transferred to other Battalions on completion of their training.

Provide me with as much information on the fusilier or individual as you can and I will search my database to identify fusiliers that fit the description. See Terms and Conditions of Search

Note: The searchable database on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website (www.cwgc.org) is the best place to start if the fusilier was killed in action or subsequently died of wounds.

Don't be disheartened if you cannot find the fusilier you are looking for, he may have been in another battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. By the end of the 1st World War more than fifty battalions had been raised by this Regiment!

Surnames and initials of fusiliers held on the 4th Battalion database are set out below in alphabetical order. Select the appropriate letter (eg. 'S' for Smith, JM;).

Fusilier Photographs

Each page has a number of photographs kindly sent by the family of the individual or extracted from a publication of the time.

Please note: Many of these photographs are of poor quality, because they have been copied from newspapers of the period.
