There were 14 Territorial Divisions when war broke out in 1914. A Division (Divn) was in effect a self-contained army of approximately 18000 men including infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineer, medical, supply and signal units. The Northumberland Divn was typical, consisting of three infantry brigades (Bde), namely the 'Northumbrian', 'York and Durham' and 'Durham Light Infantry (DLI)' Bdes. Each Bde was comprised of four infantry battalions (Bn). The Northumbrian Infantry Bde was comprised of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Bns of the Northumberland Fusiliers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-882-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-882-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-882-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-882-1-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Northumbrian (Territorial) Division HQ - Richmond (Yorkshire) GOC - Major General B.
