In
addition to name, rank and number, this certificate
records the individuals' year of birth, physical
description, total number of years and days he
has served with the colours and the units he has
served with. The certificate, issued by No1 Infantry
Records (York), also indicates whether gold braid
or wound distinctions can be worn on his uniform.

31st December 1915. Recipients of the 1914/15 Star
will also have been awarded the Victory Medal and
British War Medal.

The
medal was awarded to all ranks of the fighting
forces, to civilians under contract, and others
employed with military hospitals who actually served
on the establishment of a unit in a theatre of
war between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918
(inclusive). Recipients will have been awarded
at least one other medal. i.e. 1914/15 Star. Data
is held on 913 fusiliers, from
the 4th Bn, known to have been awarded this medal.
