You are on the

4th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers

Website

If you are searching for information on an individual who served in the Northumberland Fusiliers (NF) during the First World War, you should bear in mind that this Regiment had raised in excess of 50 Battalions by 1918. This website is devoted to just one such Battalion, the 4th.

A Regiment was principally a regionalised recruiting and training organisation, not a fighting unit such as a Battalion, Brigade, Division or Corps. Rarely if ever did the all Battalions, within a Regiment, serve or fight as part of one unit. The two regular NF Battalions were in different Army Divisions and in 1908, when the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Territorial Battalions were raised they formed part of a Territorial Division. Numerous 'New Army' Battalions were raised during the war and information on these can be found at www.1914-1918.net/northfus.htm

This section provides links to websites with information on the other NF Battalions. Please tell me if I have overlooked a good website!
